In what dosage can I give my dog Benadryl? The dosage that your pet can receive in any medication has been predetermined by the weight of your pet. Regardless of what medications have been prescribed to your pets, most medications are measured specifically to a weight category.
Medicines have been measured to fit weight categories so that, when taken properly, there is less chance of a person or pet having side effects or having an overdose because of an improper amount of medication.
These weight categories are what determine how much medication you give to your pet, and are very easy to read and understand, as follows:
If your pet weighs 30 pounds or less, then they should receive a dosage of 10 milligrams of Benadryl, 3 times a day, or once every 8 hours.
If your pet weighs between 30-50 pounds, then they should receive a dosage of 25 milligrams of Benadryl, 3 times a day, or once every 8 hours.
If you pet weighs 50 pounds or more, then they should receive a dosage of 50 milligrams of Benadryl, 3 times a day, or once every 8 hours.
Your pet’s weight will determine which of these dosages your pet will receive for which ever medication your pet has been described. If you have any further concerns about your pet’s medications, please get in contact with a veterinarian for consultation.
